Presence
Soderbergh challenges his directorial skills in this nifty supernatural story filmed completely from the viewpoint of the phantom. After a clan with Lucy Liu as Rebekah and her distressed teen Chloe moves into their recent residence, the camera – as the unseen entity – follows them around. The teen shows signs of sensing the supernatural presence, and it seems defensive toward her. However, the motive remains? It's a fun idea that avoids overstaying, featuring a surprise you might not see coming. Saturday 11 October, 4.35pm, 10.10pm, the Sky channel
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent
Cage fully commits to his cult stardom through this autobiographical spoof. The Black Phone Horror
The director's locked-room horror holds up well without requiring a sequel. Located in 1978 Denver, several disappearances has rendered the youth anxious. After Finney is taken by “the Grabber” and locked up in a dungeon, he anticipates a terrible outcome. But the non-functional line in the room repeatedly calls, with ghostly voices giving advice, as the prescient dreams of his sister Gwen may be his salvation. A solid creepfest. This Dramatic Portrait
In the battle between faith and wealth, the winner is obvious for Mammon in Showalter's wonderfully garish true story of the disgraced televangelist plus her lawbreaking partner. Andrew Garfield plays the greedy Jim, who declares at the beginning, “God does not want us to be poor,”. The couple commence capitalizing on the American public's spiritual convictions. It's an extravaganza of tacky decor, overdone appearance and bad faith, though Jessica Chastain achieves to present the real-life figure as a sympathetic figure. October 14th, late night, Film4
